The Soul Soldier
It was at 5 AM this morning in the car driving back to upstate NY from
New Jersey this morning that this week's newsletter came to me. I had remembered a particular client I had seen many months ago when a particular song, "All These Things That I Have
Done" by THE KILLERS came on. It is he who I thank for my interest in the band today as he had "sent" me this song to "grab my attention" and get in to see me faster.
If you notice, I ask many questions on my AVAILABILITY form on my web site and I truly do this to get to know you before we've even met. I ask you to choose a tantra nickname, tell me
something about yourself, and even bring any "gifts" you care to share at our first meeting as a way for me to know YOU. Some people are very good at bringing the gifts part
(I can thank my wide expansive interest in a variety of music, wines, books and perfumes from the countless friends who have introduced ME to something new too!) And then there are those who
are very good at describing themselves in the form. However, on one particular day a few months back, someone simply emailed me the lyrics and video and link to this song:

"All These Things That I've Done"
When there's nowhere else to run
Is there room for one more son One more son If you can hold on If you can hold on, hold on I wanna stand up, I wanna let go You know, you know - no you don't, you don't
I wanna shine on in the hearts of men I wanna mean it from the back of my broken hand
Another head aches, another heart breaks I am so much older than I can take
And my affection, well it comes and goes I need direction to perfection, no no no no
Help me out Yeah, you know you got to help me out
Yeah, oh don't you put me on the back burner You know you got to help me out
And when there's nowhere else to run Is there room for one more son These changes ain't changing me
The gold-hearted boy I used to be
Yeah, you know you got to help me out Yeah, oh don't you put me on the back burner You know you got to help me out
You're gonna bring yourself down Yeah, you're gonna bring yourself down Yeah, you're gonna bring yourself down
[x10] I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
I got soul, but I'm not a soldier
Yeah, you know you got to help me out Yeah, oh don't you put me on the back burner You know you got to help me out
You're gonna bring yourself down You're gonna bring yourself down Yeah, oh don't you put me on the back burner You're gonna bring yourself down
Yeah, you're gonna bring yourself down
Over and in, last call for sin While everyone's lost, the battle is won With all these things that I've done
All these things that I've done If you can hold on If you can hold on As you can imagine, this very creative way of contacting me told me everything and nothing about the person
behind the music. I was struck by how meaningful the word: I'VE GOT SOUL BUT I'M NOT A SOLDIER I'VE GOT SOUL BUT I'M NOT A SOLDIER I realized while driving this
morning that there are many of us who have some sense of understanding of something deeper "out there" or who desire a more authentic sensual life. However, very few people
"soldier on" their beliefs, their knowledge or their energy to others who may crave it desperately. If we are to look at the world closely and realize that we are literally and
figuratively at war with other nations and perhaps at war even in our homes, why do we sit still and not immediately signal to our deeper selves a need to "go to battle" for our
beliefs, our deepest desires or the people we love? A few nights ago while staying in Washington, DC; I saw an amazing film from my hotel room called WHY WE FIGHT. I HIGHLY
recommend you see the preview and rent this movie by clicking on:
http://www.sonyclassics.com/whywefight/ it deals with America's defense system, and how we are profitizing war.
There was a point of view expressed on how many Americans realize fully the fact that we are spending billions of dollars each year on our defense, and how we have actually profited fully
from "starting" or "engaging" in wars over many years. However, very few Americans actually "know" the full facts and even if they did, would probably not
actually "do" anything about them. This brings me back to the KILLERS song, "All These Things That I've Done." In tantra and in eastern philosophies, it is not
enough to simply learn the path and then share it with no one. The power of even one person with conviction and a desire for truth can be powerful: just look at Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr,
Nelson Mandela, Oprah or ...............YOU. When one decides to actually APPLY the sacred principles to their life, to their family, to their network, the energy alone snowballs and affects
everything in its path towards higher good. Talk about a very powerful soldier indeed. Ask yourself: Do you have SOUL and if so, are YOU a soldier? |
